miss me, netty betty baby?

June 14th, 2008 § 1

Enough of my super vain kakak. Now it’s Netty Sweety Tweety Birdy Betty Time!

I’ve finally outgrown the glue hair spike porcupine look to a more girly look “mangkok” faced baby. Ahemz. Heheh. Oh, I just did rebonding to my hair, 4 hours straight in a salon. Ya right. Kidding la. It’s all natural! Okay :) Guess what. My nenek said if I keep my hair this way till I reached teenage, she said my forehead will be super white while my face would become all tanned because the hair is sheltering my forehead, preventing the sun from tanning it. Nenek must be kidding! Ape je!! :P

Travelling bites to Bali

June 13th, 2008 § 2

“Hi heloo!! Where are you from?” the balinese sales person.

“Heloo, I’m from Bali” Haney answered.

“HUH?” Mama smiled and giggled.

“Mama, I want to stay Bali! I don’t want to go back home.” Haney told me!

Hmmmmmm….!! Haney nak jadi orang Balinese!! Hahaha!

Finally I got time to write about our bali trip!

Yeah, you’ll be asking why I didn’t bring my dear Netty Betty along. Hahaha. Well, firstly we didn’t want to hassle ourselves with babies stuffs and secondly we just want to take a break after giving birth to the dearest Netty. Hahah Bole gitu!

Similarly just like what I did to Haney after she reached her 8 months, we left her at granny house to find spiritual tranquility at Bali. Hahahah Macam real.

Well, it’s more of encouraging closeness back as husband and wife which we’ve been abandoning for quite some time after we had kids. We do quarrel, hahaha, otherwise I would be lying, heheh (marah-marah sayang babe!) but sometimes the only time I get to talk to the dear papa would be in the car. Yupz, updates would be done in the car. Hahahah. Lame!

Cos once you are home, the time to be together would be zilch. I would either be doing colouring or reading books with the kids and the papa would be entertaining himself with the square box. Soon when the kids sleep, mama got tired and sleeps too.

Heee. So bali was a baby break for us.

We planned this trip early January, supposedly to go on March (celebrating our 5th year of marriage) but due to a major project at work by the mama in May, we postponed it to June. Anyway haney was schooling; June would be a nice time to bring her out. She gets bored easily at home.

Google. Google. Plan. Read. Survey. Hotel & Air flights. Yupz. We basically did our preparation online and booked online too. It’s purely free and easy. No fuss. No scream!

My favourite travelling survival would be www.tripadvisor.com

We wanted to stay at Kuta and Harris Resort would be a great place to come back. Their services were superb plus their breakfast super sedap but then the venue was just too far for our dear bunny to walk everyday along the dark alley. Anyway, we were travelling on our own with a kid and prefer to walk around Kuta every night safely. Like slurping starbucks at 10pm and not feeling scared or lost when walking back to hotel slowly.

2 choices we had, Hard Rock Hotel or Mecure Hotel, Kuta.

I know most would go Hard Rock Hotel but Mecure was slightly cheaper and I was enticed with the swimming sunset pool and the top breezy location where you can just sit a the patio, read book while Haney dip in the pool. Awesome.

Mecure Hotel, Kuta Website – http://www.mercurekutabali.com/

With lots of read-up from the World Wide Web, Madame Internet, finally we book our Mecure Hotel, Kuta at www.asiarooms.com

This is another favourite place for the mama to book hotel from all over the world. Heheh!

Oh yes, we forgot the flight, we bought the tickets online too. Hahaha. The wonderful life of internet with a lifeless mouse, it was heaven. Hahahah.

Online Booking for SQ Tickets – www.singaporeair.com.sg

Let me tell you something.
Singapore Airline Website was superb because all you do was to buy your tickets online and the confirmation details would be sent to you via email. I did my online booking 3 months in advance as I worried seats might be full.

A month before our trip, I received a notification to select our seats and our meals. It’s pretty simple just choose your seats position like you choose your GV cinema tickets seats online, select your type of meals. That’s it! That was done and next, 48 hours before boarding, we check-in online to receive our online boarding passes. The day we fly, we proceed to Terminal 2 to the express lane an 1 hour before boarding and check-in your luggage. That’s all.

Next we were walking slowly to our flight seats. Easy Peanut.

So you see why I don’t mind taking another SQ next time even it’s a bit expensive but with a kid, I love the simple, relax, and hassle less situation. Environment is important to us. Otherwise I will get a cranky girl with bad hair day mama! Heheh!

Oh Oh I forget to tell you, you can even do a confirmation check-in via sms. Serious. I did that while in bali for my departure flight because we couldn’t login to the Internet. All I did was to reply to the sms I received and our flight seats which was earlier booked in Singapore was confirmed.

Bestkan!!! Senang!! Promoting Singapore Airlines sey!!! heee!!

Ok next. What we did in Bali?
Right after the flights and hotel was booked in Singapore; we emailed our old friend in Bali whom was our traveler driver when we first went to Bali. We only booked him for 2 days full day trip as we been to most places and we knew how to get there. Thus the rest of the week, we went lazing around Kuta beach.

His name is Dewa and he’s a great driver because even if you don’t want to go to the places he suggested he won’t get fuss with you and he’s very accommodative. I brought along a kid so I didn’t want to watch barongan dance because haney would be afraid of it and he understand. But of course I did tell him in advance. Plus he’s prices was reasonable too. Oh he also provide hotel transfer if you need. Otherwise you could tell him too if you don’t need.

Believe me. Once you are at Bali, you can get pretty frustrated with the people around you whom kept bugging you to bring you to weird places. It can be very irritating.

Check him out at his site. Oh yes, he has 2 boys so he loves kids and very family oriented that what we love most because he understand our situation with kids!!! Hahahahha!

Next, Travel Insurance is must when bringing kids. A cheap and fast place to buy would be http://www.income.com.sg/insurance/travel/

If you never been to Bali, here’s the places of Interest in Bali which we had visited and would recommend to go. For honeymooners, do stay at Ubud, tranquility, peace, lots of quiet moments and serenity. Otherwise, staying at Kuta Beach just by the beach whole week would also be wonderful.

Uluwatu –
magnificent view but you need to walk a long way uphill to view the peak of the mountain. The view is superb!!!

Tanah Lot -
nice sunset plus ultra cheap shopping.

Nusa Dua Bay –
this is a tourist spot where most water adventure can be found but beware it’s all priced in USD dollars. If you want to go for it, just try the parasailing. I did and it’s GEREK!!! SUPERB!!!

Jimbaran Bay –
absolutely stunning sunset and sumptuous seafood dinner. Bole giler.

Kintamani –
Lunching at Mount Batur overlook Lake Batur is relaxing and cooling too.

Bedugul & Bersakih –
nice weather to just relax, feel the cold breeze surrounding by volcanic mountain.
Ubud – Ubud art market cheap bargains.

Kuta –
Shop till you drop while mesmerizing at the surfers surfing at Kuta beach.

Alright, I’ve share lots of information about Bali. I hope this would definitely benefit you for your next holiday trip. Just plan way in advance, I’m sure your kids plus yourself would enjoy your holiday. All the best to you and happy planning.

Now it’s time for me to save again and plan for next year travelling. Weeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Where am I?
