It’s great to have a sister who loves to chat endlessly. Thanks to kakak, adek improved her speech tremendously. I called kakak the makcik kay-poh who loves spotting our mistakes whenever we said an incorrect statement during conversation. I’m trying my best to move her away from baby conversation to real human conversation. It’s time to phase off to pelatness to petahness. First foremost, she needs to manage her anger at times can be rather unpleasant to a human eye.

School holidays are coming. While everyone is planning for a getaway, we are officially staying still in SG, warming our butts on our cozy little home. Hehehe. With that, I’ve got to crack my head and plan for some preplanned leaves so that I can have fun at home with the kids. In fact, this mama got a lot of activities in her mind but when comes to enrolling such activity in SG, it’s never free. Unless it’s a big event conducted by NAC or any family event under the sky symphony, nothing is free. Interestingly, after a mass search on the internet, I did find one. Pen your diary, yes; it’s coming up this Sunday. At the same time, I’ll also try my best to find affordable activities that has less annoying crowd. Free comes along with crowd and noise which may not be my little cup of tea. I get migraine often with crowds. Thus I always opt for slow pace and simple activities at home and usually it’s all pre-planned in advance.
Just like everyone here, as a mama with 2 kids, we sometimes do feel the pinch especially when we are planning to bring them to art activities or any drama theatre shows for our children. The cost can sometimes be a little bit of a penny-piercing for us especially interesting activities at SAM. Though I do feel that the oil painting on canvas courses for kids’ do look rather inspiring. Maybe I should buy a canvas board from an art shop and introduce oil painting to the kakak first at home. Hmmm. Why not? But then, we also are trying our best not to explode our pot of gold. In the end, we seek our time to free garden space of flora and fauna, learning about the insects and the living things around us. Hey, Jacob Ballas now is very cool place to be and our national park and garden is improving.
Apart from that, do you know there are 101 of activities you can do around the home for free? Plus science experiments are fun at home if you have baking soda and left over food coloring from your cookies recipe. To start off her upcoming holiday, I’ve enrolled a weekend art classes for my eldest girl at the nearest community centre. I know I’m able to teach her art at home but I thought giving her time to enjoy herself with children of her age will be even enjoyable. It’s superbly affordable and the classes come in small groups too which I love it most.
I know most parents will be telling me, is it better to enroll them in Islamic classes or enrichment classes? Hee. My dear girl gets bored to death easily. It’s her holiday period from school. A long break means learning something different from school. Enrichment is not my core. I prefer her to have fun! If there’s swimming classes, I don’t mind bringing her. Plus, she hates spelling. I always go berserk teaching her. In fact I love her ballet classes. Unfortunately, I’ve stopped her from ballet recently. Thanks to a small bump appearing just beside her ankle bone and it’s becoming rather obvious. Thus after 2 years, we officially stop her ballerina classes. I believe she missed her princessy act. Don’t worry. It’s not painful according to her but somehow her bone structure around her ankle is out of shape. Thus, instead of having one bump around her ankle, she has two. The only thing I foresee in future will be that she may have aching problem when wearing shoes. Never mind about the bumps, she’s still the healthy, cheery and amiable girl as ever.
Another great place for the family to have fun will be here except mama’s voluntary funding is needed. Yes, plenty of family-oriented shows coming up. One cute example will be Swimmy from Act3 and Thomas Train Live. Well, the list goes on and on and on from baking cookies at home, drawing and painting, cycling at east coast, kite flying at marina barrage, watching sunset at west coast, fishing at Labrador, getting tan at sentosa to counting the aero plane under the moonlight at changi beach. There are so many things you can do to avoid the penny investment. Thus not all places in Singapore is costly, you just need to have that extra time for a little research on the World Wide Web.
But of course, as working mothers, we always want the best for our children. Since its school holiday, we tried to fill up those precious times after slaughtering at work the whole day. It’s time to get close with them again and getting involve with them. As for me, December is the time for me to catch up as much as I can those lost bond between me and my children and my loved ones, apart from sitting on my desk staring the pc and revising my lecture notes and chasing after deadline. Yes, I have a career-minded personality but when comes to family matters, I always put it first than the rest that’s inclusive of the papa bear too. Our time will always be supper, sipping hot tea till late night. Hehehe.
Live our life to the fullest! Never look back, just keep on swimming!!! hahahahhaha!
